Marian Arens & Associates, Realtors, annual Childrens Book Drive got started November 10th and will close December 10th. This is our 12th year of asking the public to bring in new or used books to our office at 2616 1st Ave. NE.
What happens to the books?
The books are sorted and delivered to many organizations in the Cedar Rapids area. The centers used them as Christmas gifts, books to check out from their lending library, prizes for game winners, reading to the children at the centers or they are sent home to promote positive interaction between parents and children.
Some of the places we take books to: Asbury United Methodist Church, Catherine McAuley Center, Catholic Worker House, Central Park Presbyterian, Focus Preschool, Four Oaks, Headstart at ASAC, HACAP, Jane Boyd Community House, Linn County Day Care Center, Olivet Presbyterian, YMCA Homeless Center & Preschool, Wellington Ecumentical Center and Willis Dady Shelter.
